EverThrive Illinois is proud to launch our 2026 National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW) campaign, running from April 1st through April 30th. This initiative aligns with National Infant Immunization Week, a nationwide observance held each April to highlight the importance of protecting infants and young children from vaccine-preventable diseases.
As a Champion for Health, we are committed to helping parents, caregivers, and pregnant individuals understand the power of vaccines and the importance of keeping their little ones up to date on their vaccinations. Through this campaign, we aim to provide parents, pregnant individuals, caregivers, and health care providers with the necessary tools to make informed decisions about children’s health. We also support healthcare providers by sharing tips and resources on how to have effective conversations about vaccinating children.
At a time of constant changes in vaccine guidance and widespread misinformation and disinformation, it can be very confusing and overwhelming for families to know which recommendations to follow. It is extremely important for families to have access to accurate, reliable, science-backed information. “Through the NIIW Campaign, we hope it is a bit easier for parents, caregivers, and pregnant individuals to easily access digestible vaccine information and childhood immunization recommendations rooted in science,” says Stephanie Romero, EverThrive Illinois’ Health Promotion Manager.
Childhood vaccinations are critically important for protecting children and those around them. Measles cases have increased in the U.S. in recent years, with 2,213 cases in 2025 and 1,304 cases reported so far in 2026. Because measles is highly contagious and can lead to serious complications, vaccinating children and keeping them up to date is critical.
Stephanie and Kristen Nuyen, EverThrive Illinois’ Capacity Building Director, who are leading this campaign, want to make it clear that in Illinois, nothing has changed. EverThrive Illinois will continue to follow and uplift the recommendations set by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH), which align with medical organization groups such as the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG).
