EverThrive IL has helped increase vaccine confidence in Illinois communities for over 25 years through vaccine education, policy and systems change, and vaccine promotion and outreach. National Immunization Awareness Month, which is observed annually in August, is another time for us to raise awareness about the importance of vaccines and uplift the impactful work of our EverThrive IL Immunization Team! Some of the work we’re currently leading includes:
- Leading annual vaccine campaigns where we facilitate face-to-face outreach to upwards of 25,000 individuals living in Black and Brown communities in Chicago to provide immunization education and connect folks to immunization providers.
- Creating and facilitating digital media campaigns to promote vaccination and combat misinformation online, such as our recent COVID-19/flu campaign, which reached more than 238,000 adults in Chicago.
- Convening two Equitable Vaccine Advisory Councils (EVACs), comprised of key community members, health care providers, and social service providers, to provide a community perspective on vaccination challenges, give input on campaign messaging, and identify opportunities for coordination with other immunization efforts.
- Hosting annual listening sessions to gather information from community members on vaccination perspectives, identify challenges to accessing vaccines, and provide input into the focus of our educational materials.
EverThrive IL is a trusted source in providing evidence-based immunization information so that individuals can make informed decisions about their health. Also, vaccines are among the most effective public health tools available. They prevent the spread of contagious diseases, reduce healthcare costs, and save lives. Immunization Awareness Month is a vital reminder of our collective responsibility to protect ourselves and our communities through vaccination.
