EverThrive IL strongly opposes the federal deployment of the National Guard in Chicago. We stand for civil liberties and democracy and condemn the use of military force to suppress the constitutional rights of protestors and the ongoing use of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids to terrorize communities.
Military and ICE presence only escalates fear, stress, and violence, all of which are well-documented drivers of poor health. For Brown, immigrant, Black, and low-income communities already enduring systemic inequities, militarization fuels trauma and erodes trust.
The military and ICE do not protect public health or safety—they endanger it.
We call on leaders at every level of government to protect the rights of immigrants and those who speak out against injustice and tyranny. The use of force must never be a substitute for dialogue, accountability, and reform.
