EverThrive IL is looking for individuals to join our Associate Board! It’s an opportunity for young leaders and professionals to support a nonprofit organization and help us to achieve our mission of advancing reproductive justice and ensuring health equity for Illinoisans.
Recently, we connected with Sara Navin, EverThrive IL’s Associate Board Social Chair, to learn more about being a member. Sara first heard about the organization from her professors while earning her MPH at the University of Illinois Chicago. “After I graduated grad school,I got a job where I do not work in reproductive or maternal child health, but I wanted to stay involved in these areas. I remembered hearing about EverThrive IL, so I looked them up and saw they had an associate board. I reached out for more information, and the rest is history!”
This is a great opportunity for those passionate about public health, anti-racism, and reproductive justice. Members can volunteer, help fundraise, and participate in events like EverThrive IL’s annual benefit, Associate Board socials, webinars, and more. It is also a great space to network and gain professional connections.
“One of my favorite parts of being an associate board member is connecting with other young professionals who care deeply about EverThrive IL’s mission and work in related and unrelated fields,” said Sara. “As a relatively new member of the public health workforce, I’m still learning about career possibilities. I enjoy hearing about other associate board members’ connections to EverThrive IL and about what they do for work or what they are studying.”
In the future, Sara wants the associate board to grow in different ways. “I’m hoping we can increase the associate board membership this year and organize a few successful events that serve as templates for years to come. I also think there is an opportunity for the associate board to get more involved in some of EverThrive IL’s advocacy work.
