Today, MacKenzie Scott’s Yield Giving announced EverThrive Illinois as one of the Yield Giving Open Call’s awardees working with people and in places experiencing the greatest need in the United States.
EverThrive IL is thrilled to receive an award of $2 million to support our mission to achieve reproductive justice in the health care ecosystem. Chi Chi Okwu, Executive Director, shared her reflection on what this means for our organization:
For more than 30 years, EverThrive Illinois has been advancing the health and safety of Illinoisans by supporting access to quality health care and providing resources to achieve bodily autonomy. This award allows us to go even more boldly forward– to innovate and expand our programming, to drive policy change, and to connect with more community members than ever before.
“This generous gift, the largest in EverThrive Illinois’ history, is transformative for our organization and deeply affirming of our mission and commitment to advancing reproductive justice in solidarity with and accountability to people most impacted by injustice. This investment is also a testament to the dedication of our team; whose leadership and expertise have transformed the health care landscape in Illinois.”
“Ms. Scott’s trust in our organization and our team is deeply appreciated,” shared Barbara Staples King, Board Chairperson at EverThrive IL, “this gift will help us to create healthier, thriving communities for all Illinoisans.”
Creating a health care ecosystem that uplifts the experiences and care of people who are most impacted by health injustice requires statewide action and participation. Everyone, from parents to policymakers and organizational partners, has a role to play in making reproductive justice a reality and we invite you to join us in this critical mission.
