EverThrive IL Statement On Sonya Massey

EverThrive IL sends our deepest condolences to Sonya Massey’s family, friends, and community. Sonya was a Black woman, mother, and daughter whose life mattered. She called the police to investigate a possible intruder. She needed assistance and was afraid for her safety. We condemn the violent and racist actions of the Sangamon County deputy who shot and killed her. Sonya was unjustly and brutally murdered at the hands of someone who swore to serve and protect all regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, mental state, or sexual orientation. She should still be alive today. We honor her and we want to #sayhername as we support those who seek justice for this horrible killing. We will continue to fight for people from communities most impacted by injustice.
