Illinois – On June 30th, 2015 EverThrive Illinois, along with 300 other non-profit organizations, sent a letter to Governor Bruce Rauner and leaders of the Illinois General Assembly asking for immediate action to pass a fair and balanced fiscal year 2016 (FY16) budget. We cautioned the Governor and Illinois lawmakers that extending the current budget impasse would lead to lay-offs and termination of important services.
House Resolution 526 has been adopted, designating September as Infant Mortality Awareness Month in Illinois.
The measure seeks to bring to the forefront discussions on infant mortality, applauding Illinois Department of Public Health on the mission to reduce infant mortality, and acknowledges the work that still needs to be done, especially in addressing the disparity of infant mortality between white and non-white babies.
House Bill 2731, House Amendment 1 has been signed into law by Governor Rauner. The Medicaid Managed Care Transparency Act strengthens transparency and helps government function better and makes it less vulnerable to crises.
House Bill 2812, led by a collaborative effort including EverThrive IL, Illinois Collaboration on Youth, Chicago Department of Public Health, AIDS Foundation of Chicago, and many other partners has been signed into law by Governor Rauner.
Senate Bill 1410 - Certificate for Religious Exemption was signed into law on August 3, 2015 by Governor Bruce Rauner. This EverThrive IL bill creates a process for religious exemptions of school mandated vaccinations, preserving parental rights while protecting the public health of all Illinoisans.
