State Policy Update

This week, Illinois Partners for Human Services released a report on the effect of the state budget impasse from FY15-16.

EverThrive IL is excited to report that three of the six bills that were 2016 priority legislative measures have been signed into law by Governor Rauner - HB5576, the Comprehensive Contraceptive Coverage Act; HB5736, the AllKids Program Sunset Date Extension bill; and SB2331, the Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) in Medicaid Managed Care trailer bill.

Last week, the Illinois House and Senate passed a stopgap spending plan and Governor Rauner signed it into law. The stopgap budget package provides a long-overdue cash infusion to struggling health and human service providers. This stopgap budget package was a bipartisan, bicameral compromise as a result of negotiations between Democrat and Republican General Assembly leadership and Governor Rauner.

A new article from the Chicago Tribune highlights ways the state budget impasse has disproportionally affected Illinois women and children. Read the article in full here.
