Secretary - Renee M. Friedman is a Partner in the law firm of Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP and serves on its Board of Directors. Renee graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and earned a law degree from Washington University in St. Louis, where she was Editor-in-Chief of the Urban Law Review. Renee has more than 30 years of experience and specializes in public finance. She has worked primarily on financings for hospitals, health care systems, utilities and educational facilities, involving both tax-exempt and taxable issues.
Additionally, Renee is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers, has served as a Board member of Women in Public Finance, and as a member of the Advisory Board of the Journal of Law & Policy. She is currently a Trustee of the Illinois State Employees’ Retirement System. Formerly she served as counsel to the Gilead Referral and Outreach Center for the Medically Uninsured (dissolved in 2010 due to lack of funding). Through her synagogue, she works with United Power for Action and Justice, an organization that brings together grassroots groups around issues of social justice reform.
