Jennifer C. Hammonds obtained her Masters of Social Work distinction from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale in 2002 and achieved the status of LCSW in 2004. Since that time, she has worked extensively with youth in a variety of settings, including crisis intervention and assessment; trauma-related intervention and counseling; individual and family systems therapy. Since 2008, she has been the primary mental health provider for the SIU Care-A-Van, a mobile school-based health center that serves high school students in Franklin county. Jennifer serves as a liaison and active member of several inter- and intra-University committees, as well as within various community programs and advocacy groups. She has a vested interest in adolescent healthcare and seeks to foster resiliency and protective factors within this underserved population.
