Betsy Covell is a Senior Standards Manager at Nokia, where she has over 25 years experience in telecommunications. In her current role, she is defining the requirements for 5th Generation wireless systems.
Previously, she has many years in leadership positions in global standards development, Chairing standards groups developing 2G, 3G, and 4G wireless standards that have enabled cell phones to not only become ubiquitous but also to work around the globe. Betsy is a Senior Member of IEEE and is active in the Women in Engineering subcommittee in Chicago. Betsy has a Masters degree in Computer Science from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
As a mother of 3 daughters and grandmother of four, Betsy is passionate about supporting women’s health initiatives at the federal, state and local levels.
